副總統候選人電視辯論會26日舉行，首度舉辦公民提問，問題包羅萬象，但多聚焦於內政問題，沒有出現兩岸問題。而公民提問的第二題詢問外交議題時出現「非洲將出現東非聯邦，是世界第16大國」，詢問候選人是否有具體外交計畫？由於東非聯邦尚未成立，讓網友認為這個提問感覺很跳tone。
26日率先登場的副總統辯論與2016年1月2日舉行的第2場總統辯論，首次納入公民提問，問題由沃草、Google等合作設立的「總統，給問嗎？」網站產生。公民提問問題分為經濟、教育、兩岸、勞工等15大領域，並在副總統辯論前夕，由各陣營先從15個領域問題中抽出6個領域問題，再分別從各領域中，抽出6道超過千人連署的問題。
這6個公民提問的問題涉及醫療與社福、藝文、交通、國防、外交、內政；問題則包括「反雛妓運動」通過《兒童少年性交易防治條例》，立法時間太久；副總統候選人同不同意立法院每年改選；台灣國防、外交、政策、經濟等重大問題該由誰來定奪等。
許多公民提問的問題，不但被網友批評無聊，就連親民黨副總統候選人徐欣瑩在回答「文化部補助立委事件，可見文化部淪為民代選民提款機，文創法案也被詬病，是否贊成國家採行改良半總統制，讓文化部主導文化發展」問題時，也脫口而出：這個題目的邏輯是下錯藥方。
大陸網友26日下午也紛紛透過各種軟體收看這場副總統辯論，但整場辯論都沒有提及兩岸關係，讓部分大陸網友感到失望。有大陸網友就批評，整場副總統辯論會辦成了政見發表會和往事澄清會，火力相當不足。
